Paediatric First Aid (PFA) course tailored to staff in children’s residential care
The Paediatric First Aid (PFA) Course for Children’s Residential Care provides staff with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to respond to accidents, illnesses, and life-threatening emergencies involving infants, children, and young people. Aligned with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 (Reg 31), Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, RIDDOR, and Ofsted SCCIF, this course teaches staff how to conduct primary assessments, deliver CPR, use an AED, manage choking, respond to seizures, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, bleeding, shock, burns, and childhood-specific emergencies such as drowning and poisoning.
Staff also learn correct recording, reporting, equipment checks, and how to link first aid to wider safeguarding, care planning, and health promotion within residential settings.
